Lung Cancer: Symptoms and Treatments

Cancer is a terrifying word to any person,as it brings the notion of sickness and hours of chemotherapy. Lung cancer is one of its many forms. How do you ascertain for yourself if you have the symptoms of lung cancer, and what are the treatments available for it?

The most common symptoms for lung cancer are chest pain that becomes aggravated with coughs, laughs and deep breaths. It could also seem like a cough that you can't get rid of. More severe symptoms include the present of rush-coloured phlegm when you clear your throat, loss of weight and loss of appetite too.

Lung cancer can be treated by chemotherapy or radiotherapy (or even a combination of the two), depending on the severity of the cancer level. Some cases require surgery, which could be a lobectomy, where one or more lobes of the lung are removed, pneumonectomy which involves the removal of an entire lung, and finally segmentectomy, where a small piece of the lung is taken off. Other forms of treatment include radiofrequency ablation, photodynamic therapy and finally cryptherapy.

With early detection and proper treatment, lung cancer can be battled and won. Getting the right care is crucial to helping your body get better, and it is important to do an annual check-up on your general well-being.
