Travel on a Budget: See More, Pay Less

If you go online today you will notice, everyone appears to be traveling. They may even be making a career out of it! How is it people with average jobs appear to be traveling to some exotic places and seeing the world? Here are a few tips for how you too, can begin crossing locations off your bucket list without breaking your budget.

Book in Advance

You may be aware that booking a flight or hotel in advance can save you tons, but did you know this can be true in other areas as well? Booking a rental car, your, or excursion in advance can save you money. Especially if you will be visiting during a busy season.

Be Flexible

Traveling during the busy season is always going to be more expensive wherever you go. If you are able to be flexible with your travel dates, this allows for cheaper prices and better deals!

You should also be flexible with where you are staying. For example, if you are visiting a big city, stay just outside the city near some public transportation. It may not always be as convenient, but you will save a ton and can typically find a nicer hotel for less.

Come Prepared

Often times the greatest expenses come from poor planning. This will require a bit of research but it can save you both time and money. Research the places you want to visit and see if they have discounts, like student discounts with ID or certain days and times with lower prices.

Refer to blogs and local websites about pricing and great places to eat. Sometimes you may find yourself in an area that caters to tourists but inflates the prices of food. Rather than settle for these options, check out local eats to find tastier options that could also be less expensive.

This includes public transportation. What is the cheapest and most ideal way to travel? Not every city or vacation spot in the world has great public transportation so you may need to rent a car. If not, check out what is the cheapest and safest way to travel. Some may suggest a bicycle, others may tell you to take the subway. Some cities you should take a taxi, but online forms may warn you of common scams in the area!
